MEET JOHN GIBBONS
John Gibbons believes public service should be built on experience, accountability, and a genuine understanding of the people it serves. After spending his entire professional career helping families, building businesses, and investing in Oklahoma communities, he is ready to bring that same commitment to the Oklahoma County Assessor's Office.
A lifelong Oklahoman, John grew up in South Oklahoma City, where he learned the value of hard work, personal responsibility, and treating people with respect. Those values stayed with him as he attended the University of Oklahoma and later built a career centered around homes, property, and small business.
For more than 25 years, John worked in the mortgage banking industry, gaining firsthand knowledge of residential and commercial real estate. As a founding member of Citimac Mortgage Solutions, he helped grow the company into a successful business with a team of more than 70 employees. During his time there, John oversaw the management of tens of thousands of mortgage collateral files, giving him extensive experience with property valuation, documentation, and the systems that support responsible property assessment.
John's entrepreneurial spirit didn't stop there. Throughout his career, he has built and operated successful small businesses across multiple industries. As the owner of Bay Properties, he has developed residential and commercial projects while gaining decades of hands-on experience in construction management. He is also the owner of Bay Entertainment, continuing his lifelong commitment to creating jobs, investing locally, and growing Oklahoma businesses.
Having spent his career working with homeowners, builders, lenders, investors, and business owners, John understands that property is often a family's largest investment and that fair, accurate assessments matter. He believes taxpayers deserve an Assessor's Office that is transparent, efficient, and focused on serving the public with professionalism and integrity.
Today, John lives in North Oklahoma County and remains deeply invested in the community he has called home his entire life. He is running for Oklahoma County Assessor because he believes the office should be led by someone with real-world experience in property, business, and finance—someone who understands the responsibility of earning the public's trust and is committed to serving every taxpayer with fairness and accountability.
